Kings Park Festival
The colourful month long Kings Park Festival is organised every year in the month of September and witnesses around 500,000 footfalls in Kings Park and Botanic Gardens, which is around 1000 acres and is a home to 319 species of unique plant species and around 80 bird species.
Held against a backdrop of blossoming plants, Kings Park Festival is not one of the Australia Festival Holidays but a celebration of floral displays along with live music, colourful exhibitions, interactive workshops, interpretive artworks and free guided walks across the Park. Ever since the inception of the festival in 1965, it has accrued fans including gardening enthusiasts, families, school students, creative artists and trend followers.
Kings Park’s Lotterywest Federation Walkway spans over 620 metres through the Botanic Garden along a combination of on-ground pathways and suspended 52 m glass and metal bridge.
Planned for families on their Holidays in Australia, this promotional event brings people closer to nature. Only one part of this Park land being manicured and designed for picnics and other recreational activities, children and adults are left with two-thirds of the bushland to appreciate and explore wild flora.
Perched on the Mt Eliza escarpment, Kings Park and Botanic Gardens offer a panoramic view of Perth’s skyline, a majestic view of River Swan and the Darling Range. Law Walk is Kings Park's 2.5 km urban bushland trail.
Synergy Parkland is an exciting area for recreation, designed only for children to explore, discover and learn joyfully. Through play children are led to walk along the footprints of dinosaurs and discover ancient fossils. After the hard work when children look greedily for nourishment, Fraser Avenue, beckons both the children and their escorts.
Fraser Avenue named after the surveyor-general of Perth, Malcolm Fraser, is a century old towering tree-lined avenue leading to the restaurant arcade. Each tree has a plaque commemorating a famous Western Australian citizen and is decorated with lights, lit in the night to intensify the beauty of the Park.
The Kings Park tour ends with Aspects of Kings Park, a gallery and retail environment, which offers some delightful shopping experience with a display of quality crafts and design, integrating ecology, conservation and education.
