What you didn’t know about Lake District cottages
The English Lake District has long been a popular destination for self catering holidays but there are a few things you may not be aware of and may be of interest.
Did you know you can now book a Lake District self catering cottage for a short break? Times are changing in the travel and tourism sector. No longer does the operator lay down strict rules regarding minimum night stays etc.
The more relaxed stipulations on minimum stays are the case not just at hotels and bed and breakfast businesses but it is now the case for many self catering property owners.
Self catering is becoming more and more popular. The consumer is seeing the many benefits of staying in a self catering property in the UK as opposed to either staying in a hotel or going abroad. Tourism industry members are seeing the profits made from owning holiday homes and the rentals of them.
Have you ever thought about hiring a Lake District cottage over Christmas or for New Year? Unlike caravans and lodges were sites are often closed over Christmas, many Lake District cottages can be hired for the Christmas week or for the New Year week. What could be better than hiring a cottage over Christmas in the Lake District? Even if it doesn’t snow, waking up in a cottage in a stunning Lakeland setting, may be a walk before cooking a Christmas dinner or even booking for Christmas dinner in one of the nearby hotels. A self catering cottage gives you that home from home feeling over Christmas. It also means all the family can be together if a larger self catering property is hired or a group of friends.
Spending the New Year week in the Lakes is also proving a popular choice. Starting off the New Year in a luxury cottage, away from it all before you start back at work for the New Year. Again, a self catering cottage can be booked for a couple but also for a family or friends gathering. For a group, Lake District cottages are ideal.
More and more self catering property owners are allowing dogs and pets. This is not only a general benefit for pet owners but also ties in with short breaks and Christmas and New Year breaks. Often finding someone to take a pet for long weekend or the cost and inconvenience involved with kennels for a short time, puts a dampener on the weekend getaway. Dog friendly cottages save you money on kennelling fees and means you can enjoy the time away with your dog as well. Many dogs are huge parts of the family so leaving them at home over Christmas can be quite traumatic but thankfully now, this needn’t happen.
Some owners of cottages in the Lake District have really taken updating and renovating their properties to another level, far more than just a lick of paint. You’ll be amazed at some of the interior design in some of the properties, brand new kitchens and all the modern conveniences required to make an excellent holiday in the Lake District. You’ll also be stunned at some of the amazing locations that Lake District cottages are set in. For example, on the lakeshore of Ullswater, one of the most beautiful of the 14 lakes and also set in the middle of walking heaven.
