The airlines launch of a 2 day summer ticket sale means even cheaper cheap airplane tickets and cheap vacation packages will be available today and tomorrow (through midnight on Thursday, 3/11). This is the first big summer sale of the year.

The following are the particulars you should know about this sale:

• Reduced prices are good for travel through November 16th
.
• Blackout dates exist for travel around Memorial Day and other holidays.

• If you really want to find the best fares, you will need flexible travel dates, particularly in July or if flying across the country.

• To find the cheapest airline prices passengers may have to make a connection and should consider alternative airports to fly in and out of.

• The reduced prices require a 10 day advance purchase. Round trip coast to coast tickets are being offered as much as 50 percent below their regular prices.

• What makes this sale particularly attractive is that you have almost 200 days of travel to select from.

• Special prices are available on most days of the week, except Fridays and Sundays.

AirTran initiated the sale earlier this week, with American, Delta, United, and US Airways quickly cutting their prices.
